A 1901 and and 1904 Lanchester completed the historic London to Brighton Veteran Car Run without “missing a beat”.
With a combined age of almost 230, the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust’s brace of Lanchesters were loaded up on Friday…

Great job by @jdht_gaydon. 1901 Lanchester never missed a beat and was a pleasure to conduct @lanchester_ia

Well done to all the drivers, navigators and support teams for another successful run and especially to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust for lovingly keeping both cars in such tip-top condition so that they can demonstrate the outstanding engineering over 100 years since they were designed and produced.
In 1953, Fred’s younger brother George Lanchester (L with steering tiller) and elder brother Frank Lanchester drove the very same 1901 car at the Veteran Car Club’s Coronation Event in 1953.
And in one of his cartoons, Fred modestly poked fun at his own inventions – “What England thinks to-day Lanchester thought of years ago!”.
And what Lanchester created years ago, still performs spectacularly today!
