Congratulations Coventry – City of Culture 2021 – Howes about that!

8th December 2017

The tension mounted last night until the news from Hull eventually came that Coventry had been awarded City of Culture 2021.
The morning after the night before and chairman of the judging panel Phil Redmond and minister John Glen paid a visit to Fargo Village to celebrate with the delirious winning city!

But earlier in the day we paid a visit to Howes Primary School who, whose Year 5 & 6 pupils were putting on an amazing rainforest interactive exhibition inspired by visits to the Coventry Transport Museum, Herbert Gallery and Lanchester Interactive Archive.
There were virtual reality and augmented reality experiences, quizzes, smells of the rainforest challenges and beanbag games all crammed into two classrooms. It was an amazing way to learn so much and the pupils were brilliant as they demonstrated their activities and their evaluations showed it worked too.  For us it was a really concrete way of showing what a city of culture should look like, roll on 2021!
